I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama.  Throughout my childhood I attended church.  My grandmother was my biggest spiritual influence.  Spending weeks with her each summer, we would read and study scripture together.  Never thinking I would be a missionary, I always pictured myself as a “Paul” kind of guy.  I was still active in church when Kelley and I started dating in high school.  During college, I enlisted into the Marines, spent 6 years in the reserves and continued my college education.  Kelley and I were married in 2001.

Once we found out that we were expecting our first born (Haley), I started looking back on what I had accomplished and the road that lay ahead of me.  I started reading scripture and soon realized that I was working for the American dream and not living for His kingdom.  My desire grew to tell others about His glorious Son and soon that desire was too strong to ignore!  I was working as a systems engineer doing Cisco networking when we decided to sell our house and pursue the life we needed to live.

After taking a short-term mission trip with To Every Tribe and a chance to meet some of the staff, we decided to attend the Center for Pioneer Church Planting.  During CPCP training we went on a month long trip to Papua New Guinea (PNG).  While in PNG I knew this was where I wanted to work.  After talking and praying with Kelley, we started working on logistics for the move, team building and support raising.

I grew up in the same church as Alex. I never imagined that I would be a missionary, but every morning I wake up and thank God for where He has us!  The Lord had been working in my heart because when Alex told me what he wanted to do, I was more excited than scared.  For me that’s a BIG deal.  I like to know what is going to happen next and am (or I used to be) a very organized and scheduled person.  The Lord has broken down lots of barriers and is molding me more and more into His image.

We now have 3 amazing kids! Haley is 6 and is busy with homeschool and playing with her friends.  It did not take her long to make Texas her home.  She has adjusted wonderfully and I think she is just as excited as we are about the move to PNG. Graham turned 3 in December and wow-he is very busy!  He is all boy, and a fun one at that! He too adjusted well and is very excited about the move the PNG. He “claims” that he can’t wait to eat bugs there! Nate will be 1 is September and is the baby of the bunch. Life with 3 has been great fun!  The kids have been a true blessing to us and it has been an honor to raise them to love the Lord.

We are truly grateful for what the Lord has and is doing in us.  We know that we will face hard times, but our prayer is that we will embrace the tough road that lies ahead and push on to further advance His kingdom.

We need your help
